My mate Franco and I arrived, after a short Odyssey throughout the Heilbronn area and a couple of beers later, at the Stereo Total around 9 p.m. Leading of were Berlin’s Bonsai Kitten who had already started their nice set of own tracks and unusual cover versions (Madonna, Trio etc. ). The venue was poorly attended-which is a shame part 1-, most probably due to the big RnR Halloween event in Stuttgart (which lasted till the early morning hours) a day earlier and/ or it was a mid-weeks gig. Second band of the night were the fast rockin´ Astro Zombies from France including double bass virtuoso Fantomas and a solid blend of tracks from all their album releases. A couple of cigarettes and beers later, “ MadDog Cole and his Psycho Men “ finally started their nightshift (blues). Though the whole gig suffered from sound problems – which is a shame part 2- MDC rocked the house for the rest of the night. The band did an excellent, powerful show performing a fantastic blend of all-time genre classics (Bus Stop, Hell Train, Snake Man…) and soon-to-be fan favourites from their new album (Basket Case, MadDog´s Back, F*** Your Cadillac…), flavoured with these awesome cover versions, that you all should know (The Outcasts, Johnny Cash, Cosmic Voodoo…) The band did a helluva job not only fighting the ongoing sound problems, including a ten minutes delay during It´s A Sin but also some sort of weary temper -which is a shame part 3- among the audience. The set was real tight and was another improvement compared with Mark’s comeback show in Speyer. I loved it! Exchanging a couple of words with Mark Cole and Jim Jeffries (both probably take me for being retarded now as I was a little bit starstruck and I only mumbled ! ) and meeting a boy called Billy and some sort of monozygotic twins was an exciting plus. AnyWay a night to remember!
