After seeing them in Speyer for their first ever gig together, I have to say that they sounded a lot better this time, the sound was spot on and they seemed very tight, playing all the classics and a few of their new ones too which was appriciated, but as I said before, Cole's got a great voice, but stands still too much, so it's kind of, look at Jim and Choppy coz they are moving about, but I hope that he'll get more confident in himself and starts to put on a show soon, coz the potential of a great band is there, just need to be more "in your face"!

MDC took to the stage and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it. Mad Dog himself was in fine voice. Visibly more relaxed than he was during the sound check and stretching his voice further with the confidence that was building with each song. The musicianship was of a very high standard. This is a very tight band of quality musicians, and they really can’t be knocked on their performance. The gig itself was a fairly balanced mix of old and new songs that featured all crowd pleasers standing shoulder to shoulder with the material that will be future classics. I’m aware that a few people had some reservations, but if I was to really look for something negative to say it would be that this early into them playing, the band can sometimes come across as a backing band to Mark. I do however think that with confidence and more dates, that this will be something that will disappear. This was the difference between the Termites and MDC and why in my opinion the Termites had the edge. In the Termites case they have three members who have grown up together and have a bond. With MDC this bond is still being forged. Once it’s there I fully expect that MDC will deliver 100% on everything that is promised. Meanwhile they still fuckin’ rock. People should keep in mind that this is the first tentative step back into the scene for Mark and the best is yet to come. They are pretty explosive live as it is. Just think what they could manage once they get that band of brothers thing going on.

Headliners for tonight were Mad Dog Cole. Now I can only presume that most of the gig-going population havn’t a clue who they are judging by the relatively poor turn-out, for what was their only UK gig, I expected the place to be bursting at the seams. So MDC are Mark Cole, (the voice on the first 3 Krewmen albums, hang on I’ll retype that THE VOICE!!!!!) backed by some of the finest musicians on the scene – Choppy on Bass (the meanest looking man in psychobilly) , Jim Jeffries on guitar (the man with the rock star looks) and Lee "The Sperm" Barnett (I’m not privy as to why he is nicknamed the sperm and I’m too much of a lady to ask why, but to me he’ll always be the guy who was on blind date. So to those of you who weren’t there, you missed out on one hell of a show where they performed tracks off their forthcoming album "Ultra Violence" mixed in with classic Krewmen favourites. Oh and did I mention THAT VOICE! Absolutely blinding and cant wait for that album.
