I went to speyer because I wanted to see some bands. Guana Batz, Coffin Nails, Batmobile, Caravans, Nigel Lewis (who had an amazing gig to end his career) but first of all Mad Dog Cole. Unfortunately I can't remember the complete setlist because I was dancing in the wreckingpit all the time but the songs I wanted to listen to were all being played. The gig started with a spoken intro. It was very dark and I could hardly understand a word because the people in the pit went nuts. When the first chords were played the pit went wild. I did not know what to expect from MDC live but his voice was just as I knew it from the old Krewmen records. Everytime a slower song was played it was followed by a faster one. The wrecking was one of the hardest in my life. Sweat, blood, nekkid men - the whole psychobilly gayness, erm sickness around me. The songs we knew from the demo on myspace were great and I was astonished that most people in the venue knew the lyrics by heart so that they could sing along. What made my weekend even more were the old songs that were played. Solid Gold Easy Action, Snakeman, It's a sin and the almighty busstop were very demanding songs to dance to. Everytime I thought- ok, that's enough. the people are groggy - Mark tried to make us kill each other with another hit. Great. Furthermore the lineup was/is very well chosen. Nothing else to say about that. only the sound of the guitar in Speyer was not that well mixed imho. But hey - therefore we had the busstop! All in all it was a fantastic gig. As I thought after the nigel lewis gig, that it couldn't get any better, MDC proved me wrong. I'm looking foreward for the new album and further gigs - 15 years of darkness were way too long.
